I had the privilege of contributing to developing Emily Car's first UX/UI Design hackathon where I was involved in multiple aspects of the event. For this case study, I'll focus on my design work for the winning team posters.
INITIAL EXPLORATIONS
For our first iterations, I explored using different layering techniques and different blend modes, using different images to create emphasis on certain parts of the poster. I decided to mainly focus on a black-and-white colour scheme for the initial iterations as it allows me to focus on just the specific design elements. I believe that if the design works in a simple black-and-white colour scheme first, it could work with just about any colour scheme.

While the team really enjoyed these posters, it wasn't aligning with the established FLUI design system and language that has been set.
With the feedback in mind, I continued to further iterate by pulling back on textures, creating a greater emphasis on the logo for FLUI.

Feedback was mainly positive for this iteration as it was simpler and more aligned to the design system in place. However, I was not satisfied with the work as elements felt as if they were not anchored to anything, making them feel as if they were just 'floating' there.
Therefore, I further explored designing the poster by using the FLUI logo as an anchoring element given that its the largest, allowing it to align the smaller elements by using the vertical lines as well as spacing between the 'u' and 'i', resulting in a more unified feeling within the poster.

The team was thrilled with the initial poster design I created, using it as a foundational element to further refine and iterate upon for the final version by testing different materials and colours.
